Blonds are known for having fun and red heads are known for their tempers. I don't know about blonds but I can safely say that for me, I definitely have temper. I think it has more to do with my sinful nature than the color of my hair, but some people would disagree. I have learned over the past few years that really the only time my temper gets bad is at work. You would think I would try to be nice and sweet and be a good example but some days it just doesn't happen. And the funny thing is, it is always the stupidest stuff that sets me off! If my mom or my sister made some of the same comments that my coworkers make, it wouldn't be an issue. I would just go about my business and be done with it. But there is something about my coworkers (and not just my current ones, but previous ones as well) that just have a way of pushing my buttons! I realize I have an anger problem but really, what's a girl to do?!
Well, I was at my nephew's baptism this past Sunday and we were in the middle of a Bible blitz (or so it felt like!) when I ran across these verses in Proverbs.
29:11 A fool gives full vent to his anger, but a wise man keeps himself under control.
29:22 An angry man stirs up dissension, and a hot-tempered one commits many sins.
Talk about some convicting verses! Nobody wants to be called a fool but I think about how foolish it is to give in to my anger. What does it accomplish? Absolutely nothing. What good does it do? None at all. So why give in at all. If it isn't going to help, and normally it just makes things worse, why not just by my tongue and walk away? So that's my new prayer. That I won't be the foolish person who gives in to the anger and the temper. It's going to take a lot of prayer!
